BIGFOOT, driven by Larry Swim, raced to his sixth consecutive victory Saturday night at the Beef 'O' Brady's Monster Truck Madness event at Bristol Motor Speedway.
BIGFOOT, who took the top qualifying position with a quick time of 25.01 seconds, held off Quad Chaos driven by Aaron Cain in the final round to take the head-to-head race win. In earlier rounds he outran Jester and received a bye in the first round when Hooked broke prior to qualifying.
"It was anybody's race tonight," Swim said. "This is a great group of drivers and trucks. I'm glad we were able to pull it off. Thanks to Summit Racing for sponsoring us and to BMS for having us back every year, and to all you great fans. This is 43 years for Bigfoot and that's because of all the great fans. We really appreciate it."
"The track can change between rounds and you just have to change on the fly," Swim added. "I've got to thank all the guys back at the shop for the work they do. We've won this race six years in a row and it's great to keep it going."
In the freestyle competition, Stone Crusher claimed the victory with an electrifying performance where he continued to make jumps after his right front tire went flat. He took the win with 32 points to move past Bryan Wright in the freshly repaired Hooked, who earned 31 points on his run that included several vertical jumps. Bigfoot, King Crunch and Quad Chaos finished tied for third with 30 points each.
"That's not what we wanted, but I gave you the best I could give you," said Steve Sims, driver of Stone Crusher. "I didn't want to do the same stuff everyone else did. We love you and thanks for coming to spend a Saturday night with us."
The night also featured hair raising stunts, highlighted by freestyle motocross jump exhibitions, the intense action of the East10DriftCars and Megasaurus dismantling a junked car.
Guests were in for a treat as eight monster trucks, including Stone Crusher, BIGFOOT, Dirt Crew, Hooked, Quad Chaos, King Crunch, Nitro Hornet and Jester, created mayhem all around the infield of The Last Great Colosseum.
Prior to the event, guests of all ages showed up for the pre-show Beef 'O' Brady's Pit Party where guests were able to meet their favorite monster truck drivers as well as get autographs, pictures and a close up view of their favorite trucks.
