One of the largest Chevrolet car shows in the nation once again collides with a drag racing spectacular when the Bristol Chevy Show invades Bristol Dragway, Sept. 28-30.
The popular Bristol Chevy Show, which arrives at Thunder Valley for the 38th consecutive year, is known to showcase some of the most exciting bracket and exhibition racing in the region. The combination of the car show and Saturday, Sept. 29th's Beef 'O' Brady's Thunder Valley Mayhem, makes the weekend an absolute must for any automotive and racing fan.
"The Bristol Chevy Show at Thunder Valley remains the most popular event of its kind east of the Mississippi," said Julie Bennett, vice president of Bristol Dragway. "With more than 200 swap meet vendors, 200 show cars and 400 race cars, it is the premier event for super-loyal Chevy devotees. The entire weekend provides a great entertainment value for any hot-rodding enthusiast."
At Saturday's Beef O'Brady's Thunder Valley Mayhem, guests should prepare themselves for the ultimate family evening of entertainment. With racing sessions scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., fans will be amazed by some extremely quick machines, and be provided with plenty of edge-of-your-seat excitement. Many of drag racing's coolest Pro Mods and powerful Jet Dragsters will provide fast racing action on the dragstrip. The Jet Dragsters will only be featured on Saturday night.
The fan experience will be intensified when the Team FMX freestyle bikes soar high in the sky, the popular fire-breathing Megasaurus will crush and eat a car like only it can and a spectacular fireworks display will light up the sky to put an exclamation point on the evening of fun.
Attendees will have plenty of activities to keep them busy throughout the weekend. Fans will get to see some of the best bracket racing in the country and a spectacular selection of some of the region's best classic and modern Chevrolets. The faithful Chevy bow-tie brigade will be impressed with the attention to detail given to these show machines.
Those who want to shop for new products to complete their restoration projects should visit the performance and restoration marketplace. If that hard-to-find used part is nowhere to be found, the car corral and used parts swap meet is definitely the place to go.
Spectator gates open Friday at 9 a.m. and a test & tune is scheduled from noon-6 p.m. On Saturday, gates open at 7:30 a.m. and racer time trials run from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Saturday bracket race begins at 1 p.m. and the car show series special awards will be presented at 4 p.m. The two pro rounds of racing, including Pro Mod and Jet Dragsters, in the Beef O'Brady's Thunder Valley Mayhem are scheduled for 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, gates open at 8 a.m. and racer time trials run from 9 a.m. until noon.
