NEW - Adjust Font Size:

Three area elementary schools took advantage of the Bristol Motor Speedway Racin' Back To School program and earned supplies for their respective schools, following the O'Reilly 200 in August.

Haynesfield Elementary took top honors, winning $3,000 worth of school supplies from Sharpie while Emmett Elementary and Valley Pike Elementary tied for second place and earned $500 each in school supplies.

Schools in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia were invited to take part in the Racin' Back To School program. A total of 39 schools took advantage of the offer. The program was directed at students 12 and under who were given free entry into the Wednesday night doubleheader at BMS on Aug. 22.

Winners were determined by the percentage of students who came to the races at BMS on Aug. 22 based on enrollment of students aged 12 and under at each school.

Haynesfield had 8.5 percent of its students take advantage of the free entry to the O'Reilly 200 while both Emmett and Valley Pike had 2.8 of their enrollment come out to the race.
