The 14th annual Speedway in Lights 5K presented by Fleet Feet returns to Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday, Nov. 10, when more than 1,000 festive participants will be the first to tour the region's largest and most dazzling holiday lights display in the tradition-rich endurance race.

The popular run/walk event begins at 6 p.m. and will wind through a brand-new Food City Speedway In Lights course that will include 40 brand new displays with the Santa Safari theme. The 5K will begin at the bottom of the track’s Lot B beside the Driver RV lot and follow an out and back route that will finish inside Bristol Motor Speedway at the Home Truck Bank Finish Line, which will be positioned just before Turn 3.

This year, participants will be able to see their official times flash up on a big screen when they finish the race as an official timing clock will be positioned near the finish line. In addition to the festive fun spirit that the event has developed over the years there will be plenty of awards presented by Fleet Feet in a variety of categories. There will be awards given to the first male and female overall finishers, and also awards for both male and female finishers in the following age groups (19 and younger); (20-29); (30-39); (40-49); (50-59); (60-69); (70 and older).

One of the most tradition-rich holiday fun-runs in the Appalachian Highlands region, the Speedway in Lights 5K presented by Fleet Feet is the official kick off for Speedway Children’s Charities-Bristol's annual winter events and festivities and serves as one of the highly active organization’s major fundraisers.

“We are thrilled to be able to welcome the holiday season and kick off our series of winter events; it’s truly the most wonderful time of the year,” said Claudia Byrd, executive director of SCC-Bristol. “Once again, we are opening with the Speedway In Lights 5K presented by Fleet Feet, a challenging run/walk event where so many in our community continue to support us each season by participating and making memories with their families and friends. This year we are proud to offer many new surprises along the route of the Food City Speedway In Lights, including 40 brand new displays. These participants will be the very first to see the new route while helping to support children in need.”

Once participants tour the updated five-mile Food City Speedway In Lights course and cross the Home Trust Bank Finish Line in the Speedway In Lights 5K presented by Fleet Feet they will be able to enjoy some drinks and snacks in the BMS infield.
