From our friends in Greeneville
Local NHRA standout Allen Johnson will be guest speaker at the Greene County Sports Council's Luncheon on Tuesday, July 11, at Trinity United Methodist Church's Fellowship Hall.
Consumer Credit Union is title sponsor for the luncheon, which will be used as a fund-raiser for the Sports Council as they continue their quest to bring quality sporting events to Greene County, such as the highly successful National Junior College Athletic Association World Series, which was held here at the end of May.
The 2012 NHRA Pro Stock National Champion, Johnson is a Greene County native and local businessman who has enjoyed a glowing career in racing.
"I am very honored to speak at this event," Johnson said. "I was on the Chamber of Commerce when it was called the Board back in the early 1990's. I've always been a businessman and a sportsman in Greeneville my whole life, so anytime you get to do something and give back, it's special."
Johnson has posted 27 career victories in NHRA competition and has made the final round 59 times. His career best speed is 214.42 mph.
Additional sponsors include: Greeneville Light & Power, Marsh Propane, TI Automotive, Bristol Motor Speedway, The Greeneville Sun, WGRV/WIKQ/WSMG, Grand Rental Station, Tusculum College Athletics, Greeneville Water Department, Greeneville Astros, Rodefer Moss & Co., Takoma Regional Hospital, MECO, C&C Millwright Maintenance Company, American Greetings, Tusculum Farm Bureau Agent Wayne Hughes-LUTCF, Hampton Inn of Greeneville and LMR Plastics.
