The tradition of NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) drivers choosing the song they walk out to during driver intros for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race continues Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS).
Race fans will get a taste of what song gets their favorite driver pumped up before he straps in for 500 laps around The Last Great Colosseum. This year’s playlist features a wide variety of genres ranging from classic rock and hip hop to country and EDM, and there’s even some dubstep and mariachi sprinkled in.
Drivers will enter the stadium to their song of choice and be welcomed by famed announcer Michael Buffer (via video) before they hop into the bed of a Chevy pickup to circle the high-banked oval and wave to fans. Drivers will say hello to the crowd with a brief announcement as they walk through the smoke-filled stage.
Polesitter Alex Bowman will walk out to “Seven Nation Army (The Glitch Mob Remix)” by The White Stripes while outside pole-sitter Kyle Larson chose “Whiskey, Whiskey” by Moneybagg Yo featuring Morgan Wallen.
Joey Logano, who leads the NCS Playoff standings headed into tonight’s cutoff race for the Round of 16, selected “Red” by Hardy featuring Morgan Wallen for his walkout tune, while Christopher Bell, second in the Playoff standings, will enter the track to “Remember the Name” by Fort Minor.
Four-time BMS winner Denny Hamlin, who’s in a tight battle for the final cutoff spot with Chase Briscoe and Ty Gibbs, went the progressive rock route with “Sirius” by The Alan Parsons Project. A win on Saturday night would mark three in a row at The Last Great Colosseum for Hamlin, who found himself in victory lane earlier this year after the Food City 500 and at last year’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race.
NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver, Chase Elliott, and winner of the 2020 NASCAR All-Star Race at Bristol, will start Saturday’s race seventh in the Playoff standings after walking out to “Daffodils” by country music duo Muscadine Bloodline.
